Our journey begins at Delhi, where you will witness the historic Red Fort along with Qutub Minar and then travel to Agra to see the wonder called Taj Mahal. After the cultural landmarks, we travel into the depths of Buddhist philosophies by visiting important stops in the tour like Shravasti where Buddha’s stay during the monsoons was, Lumbini, Nepal where Buddha was born, Kushinagar the place where Buddha’s Parinirvana happened, Vaishali with its Ashok Pillar, Nalanda, Rajgir the city of Vishwa Shanti Stupa, and finally Bodhgaya where Buddha meditated under the Bodhi Tree and attained Nirvana. Mahabodhi Temple and other main attractions are the Spiritual center where the teachings of Budhism stem from. The trip then ends at Varanasi where you will experience the captivating Ganga Aarti ceremony. This tour provides a breathtaking understanding of the Buddhist tradition by combining places of significance along with immersion into reflective rituals.

Itinerary

Upon arrival in Delhi, you’ll be transferred to your hotel. The afternoon is dedicated to exploring Delhi’s historical landmarks, including the majestic Red Fort, the grand Jama Masjid, and the towering Qutub Minar. The tour continues with visits to the modern Akshardham Temple, the iconic India Gate, and a drive past the President’s House. You’ll stay overnight in Delhi.

After breakfast, you’ll travel to Agra, home of the magnificent Taj Mahal. Upon arrival, you’ll visit this iconic monument of love, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You may also have time to explore Agra Fort or other local attractions. Overnight stay will be in Agra.

Today, you’ll journey to Shravasti, a significant Buddhist pilgrimage site. Upon arrival, you’ll visit Jetavana, where Buddha spent many rainy seasons; the Daen Mahamongkol Temple, a beautiful Thai Buddhist temple; and the Anand Bodhi Tree, a descendant of the original Bodhi Tree. Overnight stay in Shravasti.

After breakfast, you’ll cross the border into Nepal and proceed to Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha. You’ll explore the Maya Devi Temple, marking the exact birthplace; the Myanmar Golden Temple, a stunning Burmese-style temple; and the World Peace Pagoda, a symbol of peace. Overnight stay in Lumbini.

Today, you’ll return to India and travel to Kushinagar, where Buddha attained Parinirvana. You’ll visit the Parinirvana Stupa, the site of Buddha’s passing; the Ramabhar Stupa, his cremation site; and the Matha Kuar Shrine, dedicated to Buddha’s mother. Overnight stay in Kushinagar.

After breakfast, you’ll drive to Rajgir, stopping at Vaishali en route. In Vaishali, you’ll see the Ashok Pillar and the Buddha Stupa. You’ll then continue to Rajgir and visit the Vishwa Shanti Stupa. Overnight stay in Rajgir.

Today’s journey takes you to Bodh Gaya, the place of Buddha’s enlightenment. Before departing Rajgir, you’ll visit Venu Vana (Bamboo Grove), Nalanda and the Naulakha Temple. Upon arrival in Bodh Gaya, you’ll check in to your hotel for an overnight stay.

This entire day is dedicated to exploring Bodh Gaya, including the Mahabodhi Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site; the sacred Bodhi Tree; the Great Buddha Statue; the Sujatha Temple; and the Dungeshwari Hills (Mahakala Caves). Overnight stay in Bodh Gaya.

After breakfast, you’ll drive to Varanasi, one of the oldest living cities in the world. In the evening, you’ll witness the mesmerizing Ganga Aarti ceremony on the ghats of the Ganges River. Overnight stay in Varanasi.

Depending on your chosen mode of transportation (overnight train/flight or road), you may have time for some morning exploration of Varanasi. You’ll then depart for Delhi, where the tour concludes upon arrival.
